The Bay Film Series at 海角视频, celebrating the art of filmmaking, announces its upcoming film schedule for the Winter 2025 Semester. Each film in this season鈥檚 lineup has been recognized as a top contender for the Academy Awards, as tracked by Gold Derby, which follows the most prestigious awards in entertainment.
All Film Series movies are shown in the 海角视频 Besse Auditorium, 2001 N. Lincoln Rd, Escanaba at 7:00pm ET. Admission: $2/K-Bay | $5/Adult. Tickets are available at the Besse Center Box Office or online at . K-Bay students and employees of the College can purchase their tickets in-person with a valid ID.
The Winter 2025 lineup features the following critically acclaimed films:
January 23 鈥� Conclave
Described by Rotten Tomatoes as 鈥渁 godsend for audience who crave intelligent entertainment,鈥� Conclave features career-defining performances from Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow. This film is a strong contender for Best Picture.
February 27 鈥� Sing Sing
Colman Domingo delivers a powerful performance as Divine G, a man wrongfully convicted of a crime, who finds redemption through acting classes in prison. The Boston Globe praises it as 鈥渁 beautiful film, a must-see.鈥� Domingo is widely considered a frontrunner for a Best Actor nomination.
March 6 鈥� Anora
Winner of the Palme d鈥橭r at Cannes, Anora redefines the romance genre with a poignant exploration of human connection. USA Today states, 鈥�Anora isn鈥檛 a fairy tale鈥� Instead, it thankfully explores something more real: people just trying to get through the day with some sense of hope.鈥� Critics rank it as a top contender for Best Picture.
March 27 鈥� The Brutalist
Featuring outstanding performances by Adrien Brody and Guy Pearce, The Brutalist has earned a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Vanity Fair notes, 鈥淲ithout the nuances Pearce delivers, The Brutalist would crumble.鈥� The film has won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Drama and is a leading candidate for multiple Academy Awards.
April 10 鈥� Nickel Boys
Adapted from Colson whitehead鈥檚 acclaimed novel, Nickel Boys has been hailed as 鈥渁 groundbreaking cinematic work鈥� by the UK鈥檚 Observer. This film remains true to the novel鈥檚 spirit and structure while delivering an unforgettable viewing experience.
